Our mission is to support the development of a new generation of storytellers across South Yorkshire, increasing the representation of the types of narratives we consume.
As a production company, Surge Films produces powerful and visually compelling narrative and branded content.
As a social enterprise, our profits are always reinvested to provide free training and employment opportunities for disenfranchised and underrepresented young people in South Yorkshire.
Surge Films is a Community Interest Company based in South Yorkshire.
We operates as a production company and creative agency as well as a training hub for a new generation of storytellers entering the creative industries
We offer opportunities and support to young people from marginalised backgrounds to take their first steps into filmmaking. Surge Films equips them with technical skills, a strong understanding of using narrative to help create positive social change and the relational skills needed to help flourish in the field.
Our approach combines free, hands-on education with real-world industry production, allowing participants to explore various roles from Directing to Location Managing to Colour Grading and Foley Mixing, and everything in between, along with mentoring for up to a year post program.
Surge Film exists to give young voices in the North a platform to create, collaborate and thrive.
